2022 Santa Cruz International Open IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship
On August 6th, Professor Marcos, Chris Curtis, Blaine Lopes and Arthur Matos traveled to the Santa Cruz for the Santa Cruz International Open IBJJF Jiu Jitsu Championship 2022. It was great to have a high caliber tournament close to home and our team was well prepared for the competition.
Blaine Lopes was first on the mat and his win once again placed him at the top of the podium. Chris Curtis also took gold in his division and then set his sights on the Brown Belt Absolute. Arthur was third up on the mat and came home with a bronze medal.
Chris was last to fight on Saturday evening for the Brown Belt Absolute. He fought three very tough fights and at the end of it all, walked away with his second gold medal of the day.
Professor Marcos is very proud of his students, who between the three of them, brought four medals back to Merced!
